PIR detection: what it changes in practice

A PIR sensor reacts to body heat rather than to any pixel change, so the S70 alerts you mainly when a person is present instead of every time a branch moves or a light changes. That is the main difference between this camera and a plain motion-detection mini camera, and it is what keeps alert volume manageable on a site you are not watching all day.

Zoom: 6x base, up to 10x

The S70 starts at 6x zoom and can reach 10x, so you can look closer at a gate, a driveway or a storage bay without moving the camera. If you need to read a plate or an ID badge at distance, say so when you enquire — that is a different lens and sensor requirement, and we will tell you honestly whether the S70 fits rather than let you find out after the order.

IP65 and the optional waterproof housing

IP65 (dust-tight, protected against water jets) is reached with the optional waterproof housing, which is ordered separately. If you install the camera under a roof overhang, eaves or inside a cabinet, the housing is usually unnecessary. If it will face direct rain, specify the housing with your order. Please state your installation environment when enquiring so the quotation includes the right configuration.

What it does not do

• IP65 is conditional on the optional housing — it is not the rating of the bare camera.

• Zoom is an electronic/hybrid zoom range, not an interchangeable optical lens system.

• It is not a wired PoE camera: power and network depend on the wireless path.

• Storage tops out at 256 GB on the current version; please confirm the version if you have      older stock in your channel.

• Cloud storage duration depends on the plan selected.

Does the S70 work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. It accepts a 4G LTE nano SIM in addition to Wi-Fi, so it can stream and send alerts on a mobile network where no Wi-Fi is available.

How does the S70 detect people?

Through a PIR sensor, which responds to body heat and reduces alerts caused by moving vegetation, shadows or passing headlights.

How far can it zoom?
